Notes from the Secretariat

Winter is with us now and with the first snow we have just had the 2021 EPSMA AGM and MC meeting, again constrained to be a conference call. The meeting was very well attended including guest Mike Hayes, president of the PSMA and we had an interesting presentation by Anup Bhalla on UnitedSiC SiC FETs - a cascode arrangement that gives best figures of merit for all wide band gap devices. A copy of the presentation is in the website in the members' area in the 'meeting minutes' section.

Q4 2021 MC meeting and AGM

Bernhard Erdl gave his customary yearly 'chairmans address' which can be found in the minutes.

The meeting re-elected Bernhard Erdl from Puls as chairman and Manfred Schlenk representing Infineon as Vice Chairman. MC members who were obliged to stand for relection by rotation were duly re-elected.
The meeting had a lively discussion about a new proposed 'Mission Statement' for the EPSMA, reflecting its current activities. Mike Hayes of the PSMA described the PSMA approach and we hope that a concensus will be reached for the EPSMA to approve at the next MC meeting.
Liason activities with the PSMA were discussed and the proposed joint webinar arrangements are progressing. We hope to build on this with more collaboration work in the future.
Paul Lee for the secretariat gave an update on the organisation finances which are modest but healthy, membership developments and website traffic.
Minutes of the meeting, slides and the UnitedSiC pesentation can be seen in the members' area of the website

The next MC meeting will be a conference call on Wednesday 16th Feb 2022

TC report

Vlad Grigore for the technical committee gave his report on activities, including on the technical committee project documenting the standards and requirements for 'Overvoltage Categories' and their implication in the specification of power supplies.

Minutes of the TC meeting will be placed in the members' area of the website.
